Customer Reviews | Gerard Gaddi | | ATH-M50 Review | 1/16/2012 | | | Pros: Overall balanced and accurate sound quality. Durable. Cons: A little heavy. Gets a little hot on the ear after extended listening periods. Other Thoughts: Overall, the Audio Technica ATH-M50 has produced a headphone with exceptionally balanced sound and quality for its price range! I had my M50’s for a couple of weeks and with the right amount of "burining-in" and pairing with the right kind of amp, portable or otherwise, and I’m all set! Its very easy to drive as well! I highly recommend this headphone to anyone who is serious with their music. Just keep the music true! | | | | Floyd Graves | | ATH-M50s | 1/1/2012 | | | Pros: Very comfortable, great sound, what else can I say...excellent set of headphones for the money.. Cons: none | | | | Joe Rec (audio engineer) | | The best closed back headphones period! | 11/24/2011 | | | While there are other headphones that can have a slytly different kind of a sound.. for instance open back headphones (most at a much higher price) that sound a little more, well open, better for classical music etc..
These headphones are truly the best headphones I have ever heard in my entire life. I am no hipster yuppy that is seduced by celebrity endorsements and "trendy factor", I record and mix music. I have 2 sets of very expensive reference monitors and have trained my ears over a long period of time to hear nuances in music and sound.
Let me tell you these things ROCK! The other review on here is some guy who just got them and doesn’t know too much about music.. these headphones need to be "burned in" or played at a decent volume for a period of roughly 50 hours. After that point they sound perfect, or as they should.
I have used many kinds of headphones and these are the most accurate you will come across.. there are some others that color the sound to sound more "sweet" in certain areas.. these make the audio exactly as it was recorded.
The midrange is open and detailed, the highs are brilliant without being harsh, and the bass is HUGE while being tight and not flabby. The bass response goes down the lowest I have ever heard on headphones, you really get some nice sub frequencies with these babies.
Talk to most people in the recording industry and these are the standard nowadays.
They are built like a tank, they have some weight to them.. but they are not uncomfortable they are super cushy and comfy and can be worn for hours and hours without hurting your head or fatiguing your ears, very important for mixing in a studio. BEATS by dre are a f-ing joke, they are overhyped crap. These honestly sound 10 times better at a reasonable price. Do yourself a serious favor and get these, check out the reviews online on the music sites like sweetwater.. everyone loves them.
All in all if you want the best headphones out there for a great price do yourself a favor and get these.
| | | | kendall Doyle | | Perfect for price | 11/22/2011 | | | My first Audio Technica headphones,I have only had them for one day,i have had several other economy brands to compare these with, they sound and look alot more durable than my other sets. They are just for listening music on my laptop, for that purpose highly recommended. Two things i would love to see, more cushion on earpiece, and the Audio Technica logo,in bright red or orange, across the headband. That will probably cost more than what i paid.just jump on it.They are great.` | | | | Click here to write a review for this product line! |
