Pros:
excellent tonal balance
good isolation
split headband design (incorporated from the HD25) is comfortable
iPhone controls
Cons:
The DT1350 may actually surpass it in some ways.
Other Thoughts:
I own these as well as the DT1350, which is the top of the line on-ear offering from Beyerdynamic. I can’t tell you which one is better for your tastes, but I find that both are incredibly relevant. The Amperior sounds like a refined HD25-1 II. And realistically, that is precisely what it is.
It excels with monitoring live performance, but also is the perfect headphone for on-the-go ipod and iPhone listening. The DT1350 is the best on-ear I’ve ever heard for classical music and the Amperior really can’t touch in this area. The treble extension that the Beyer offers is superior. However, I find that I’ve been using the Amperior more often than the 1350 since I’ve acquired it.
In terms of appearance, I still think the Adidas branded HD25 is the slickest looking of the Sennheiser on-ears. I would personally like to see Sennheiser break away from this house design and try something new with regards to in-ear, but I’m not a designer and as such I don’t really know where one could take it. It just seems that the HD25 has been reworked for more than a decade at this point. I’ve had the HD25 and HD25SP. I’m waiting for the next big thing:) Love me some on-ear headphones!
