Headphones and Exercise
Headphones.com does not recommend using headphones while exercising. The danger is twofold: your awareness of the immediate surroundings will most definitely lessen and studies have shown that exercising with headphones on increases the chances of hearing loss.
With that said, how does one choose a pair of headphones for exercise. It all comes down to three key things: comfort, durability, and sweat.
First off you’re going to need to purchase a pair that will stay in contact with your ear. A pair of HD650’s will not be the ideal running companion, while most ear buds will run circles…pun intended…around any audiophile headphone.
Be sure not to choose a noise-canceling headphone for exercise as your awareness will significantly decrease, no one likes to be run over by cars.
Durability needs no explanation while sweat does. You need to think that these pair of headphones you are going to buy are going to be drenched in sweat. That being said, don’t spend your whole pay check on them. You may as well cash your check, sweat all over them, and then burn your money. Be sensible. Buy a pair that are utilitarian and be done with it.
