The Difference Between High-, Medium-, and Low-End Headphones
Low-End Headphones:Generally the least expensive, but with that low cost you are sacrificing sound quality. The earphone style headphones that Apple bundles with their iPods are an example of low end. Generally priced less than $50.
Medium-End Headphones: Better sound quality than their low end counterparts, these headphones are priced starting about $50 and can go up to close to $200. You can generally find some quality headphones in this range that will equal the sound of very expensive home speaker systems.
High-End Headphones: For the true audiophile. These headphones have the best sound quality and often require an amplifier to use with them. They can cost on upwards of $500.
