    Aeon Flow Closed

My first set of "real" headphones and I am completely blown away. Great sound and extremely comfortable.

The end of my long search

I wanted something below $1000 that would end my search for an exceptional headphone that met all of my primary needs, spacious sounding, neutral, able to resolve low end bass cleanly and naturally, non-fatiguing (not too bright), and comfortable. These be the ones. They aren't perfect from a sound signature stand point but I can EQ them to get there.

Still can't believe they're closed headphones...

I first heard about the Aeon Flow closed from Rob Watts of Chord Electronics. He raved about them as his go to on-the-road-headphones, paired with a Mojo or Hugo 2. Though I'm not usually a fan of closed headphones, I needed something with good sound isolation—my open Focal Utopias were driving my spouse crazy.

Can't believe how good a compromise these are—with detail, soundstage and evenness of tone that completely reset my expectations of what a closed headphone could sound like. The only thing I noticed is that it takes a good amount of power to drive them, but that's not a problem for either the Mojo or Hugo 2.

Rediscovering tracks I've listened to hundreds of times

These headphones are absolutely incredible. I rocked HD650s before this and loved them, but after I got a taste of these I can't go back. They're a closed back, but they somehow sound more open than the HD650s. And while I wouldn't ever have called the low-mids/upper-bass on the HD650s muddy, they do in comparison to these.

Sound isolation is not bad, but best listening experience is in a quiet environment, so you can fully appreciate the detail retrieval.

    Sonic Boom to the ears

I've went through a slew of headphones through the years. This purchase was to replace my ailing shure e530 I've used regularly to go through my commutes. The first thing I noticed upon receiving the cans: these headphones are very fast and responsive. I pair them up with the Astell&Kern 120 II, if you're wondering on what my source is. The clarity and dynamics is where its strengths lie. The cans are fairly neutral depending on what source you're using, and in my case, the ak 120 II has a touch of brightness on the treble side of things. Mind you, I'm a bass head, my first open ended headphones were the Sennheiser hd650, and I still adore them to this day. But these are a dream for closed over-the-ear headphones. Yes, they do keep your ears warm in the winter if you happen to be broke after purchasing these and can't afford ear muffs. The only caveat would be the limited bass, although, it's fairly punchy and is free from distortion, and is very mild. But don't dissuade yourself from giving one of the best closed and semi-portable headphones on the market a try. Combine these cans and the stellar service from Headphones.com, you have a formidable duo to beat.
