Pure Digital Drive

Pure Digital Drive allows these headphones to operate without using the digital/audio converter found in traditional wireless headphones. It uses Trigence Semiconductor's Dnote chipset to process wireless digital audio signals, relying on the chipset's digital pulses to move the voice coil and diaphragm.

True Motion Drivers

The 45mm True Motion Drivers use specially designed diaphragms with DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating and four-core twisted OFC-7N voice coils to reproduce sound. Acoustic resistors control airflow around the diaphragm for balanced sound. The assembly is housed in a layered aluminum chassis to reduce unwanted resonance and isolate the circuitry from the housing's acoustic space.

Hi-Resolution Audio

Audio-Technica ATH-DSR9BT Wireless Over-Ear Headphones

Surprise surprise

I ordered this pair of wireless headphones because I wanted a wireless set with the best sound possible. Being bluetooth, I expected some compromise in sound quality. Boy was I wrong. I am blown away by the musicality, dynamism, and precision of these headphones. I have owned sennheiser HD800's, as well as several other high end headphones. Yes, you can probably find something that will out do these headphones if you hyper focus on some narrow band of audio pixels. But oh my, if you are mostly into music for music's sake these are amazingly musical. The sound stage is breathtaking. You know you are onto something when a new set of headphones has you going back over your music collection to hear old favorites with fresh ears. One of my pet peeves with many setups is what I call orchestral smearing: instruments losing their individuality in a blurry wall of sound. Not happening here, Solo voices on classical recordings have "air" around them, Bass extension is authoritative without being pushy or exaggerated and tight, tight, tight. Bring on those organ solos. Really, these headphones are a technical marvel, and whatever they are doing with the "direct digital drive" is not a gimmick. I would put these headphones up against wired headphones costing 4 times as much. Oh, and they are acceptably comfortable, not as comfortable as the HD800, but nothing is. Obviously much in the world of high end musical technology depends on your taste. This pair nails mine.
